Liner Diameter Measurement (LDM)
Inspection of all cylinder liners on a 2-stroke main engine in a single day without disassembly, reporting wear, remaining liner life, ovality and clover-leafing.
Description
In response to increased liner wear concerns from low-sulphur fuel operation, Goltens invested globally in Liner Diameter Measurement (LDM) tooling from Chris Marine. With it, Goltens can inspect all liners on a 2-stroke main engine in a single day without disassembling the unit.
Key features
- Reports on cylinder liner wear, remaining liner life, ovality and any clover-leafing
- On 2-stroke engines the tools are inserted through the scavenging ports, so cylinder covers do not need to be removed; on 4-stroke engines the cylinder cover must be removed
- Data evaluated in a handheld terminal or transferred to a PC for storage and report generation
- Delivered by Goltens stations in Singapore, China, Dubai, Rotterdam, Houston and Miami
Applications
Planning liner replacements ahead of yard periods and periodic fleet-wide condition monitoring of main engines.
