Everllence B&W ME-GI Dual-Fuel Engine

Low-speed two-stroke dual-fuel engine running on LNG/methane or fuel oil using the diesel cycle, with methane slip of +/-0.2 g/kWh, for LNG carriers, container ships, tankers, PCTCs and bulk carriers.

Description

The Everllence B&W ME-GI (formerly MAN B&W ME-GI) is a low-speed two-stroke dual-fuel engine that runs on LNG/methane or fuel oil. Based on the diesel cycle, it achieves very low methane slip and the same thermal efficiency regardless of fuel. It is available for newbuilds and retrofits.

Key features

  • Methane slip with a tolerance of +/- 0.2 g/kWh, due to diesel-cycle combustion, high compression ratio and optimized combustion chamber design
  • No knocking issues; no need to compensate with liquid fuel at low methane numbers or high ambient temperatures
  • Compatible with bio-methane and synthetic natural gas (SNG)
  • Supports waste heat recovery (WHR)
  • Easier retrofit than Otto-cycle engines

Latest-generation upgrades

  • Simplified piping system for more compact installation and fewer components
  • New gas block with enhanced window valve, allowing gas cut-out per cylinder while continuing on fuel oil
  • Updated pilot oil injection, reducing pilot oil energy fraction to as low as 1.5% at 100% load (L1 rating, Tier II mode) for specific bore sizes
  • Optional compact Pump Vaporiser Unit (PVU) with embedded redundancy, integrated with the engine control system

Technical data

  • Output: 4,350–82,440 kW at L1
  • Speed: 56–167 rpm

Applications

LNG carriers, PCTCs, VLCCs, tankers, container vessels and bulk carriers.
