Description

The Everllence L21/31DF-M and L27/38DF-M (formerly MAN) are small-bore four-stroke dual-fuel engines that run on methanol or conventional fuels. They are based on the L21/31 and L27/38 GenSets, which have jointly accumulated more than 290 million operating hours with thousands of engines in service.

Key features

  • Dual-fuel principle: operation on methanol (incl. e-methanol and bio-methanol as drop-in fuel) or conventional fuels
  • Retain the reliability and low fuel consumption of the conventional engines
  • Secure power supply and confident handling of load steps
  • Conventional fuels supported: HFO, MDO, MGO, LSFO and ULSFO; biofuels also possible
  • Everllence SaCoS safety and control system with engine-mounted control, colour display, multi-language interface and electric speed governor

L21/31DF-M

  • First small-bore dual-fuel methanol GenSet in the Everllence portfolio
  • Port fuel injection (PFI): methanol injection nozzle installed outside the combustion chamber, removing the risk of blocked nozzles in diesel mode and simplifying installation with standardized components
  • Long time between overhauls (TBO)
  • Matched to the Everllence B&W ME-LGIM two-stroke methanol main engine

L27/38DF-M

  • Higher output; usable as GenSet or for diesel-electric propulsion
  • Optimal methanol fuel share with only minimum fuel oil as pilot
  • Cost-optimized low-pressure methanol supply system

Retrofit

Methanol conversion is available as a retrofit for existing L21/31 engines with delivery from 2025 onwards; for L27/38 GenSets the retrofit will be available later.

Applications

  • GenSets on container vessels, tankers, bulkers and PCTCs
  • Diesel-electric propulsion for smaller vessel types
