About
The University of Hawaiʻi was founded in 1907, when the Hawaiʻi Territorial Legislature established the College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts in Honolulu under the terms of U.S. land grant legislation. What began as a college of ten students and 13 faculty members has grown into a 10-campus system spanning the Hawaiian Islands: the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, UH Hilo, UH West Oʻahu and seven community colleges.
UH reports 45,389 undergraduate and 5,029 graduate students and 711 degree programs, ranging from certificate and vocational programs through doctoral degrees. As the only provider of public higher education in Hawaiʻi, it states a commitment to sustainability across teaching, research, operations and public service.
