Wärtsilä EvoTube® Stern Tube System
Patented simplified stern tube shaft line system with inboard seal on the aft bearing housing and a standalone forward bearing; for oil or water lubrication and easy conversion between them.
Description
Wärtsilä EvoTube® is a patented shaft line system based on a conventional stern tube but with significantly fewer components. The inboard seal is mounted directly on the aft bearing housing, and the forward stern tube bearing is replaced by a standalone bearing inside the engine room. The design optimises space and eases maintenance.
Key features
- Suitable for oil and water lubrication, with easier later conversion from oil to water lubrication
- No forward stern tube bearing: fewer parts and less maintenance
- Low risk, based on existing technology
- Frees up cargo space and eases onboard maintenance
