Curtiss-Wright Equipment Enhanced
Naval Steam Turbines
Mechanical-drive steam turbines for U.S. Navy ships: main propulsion, ship service and emergency turbine generator sets, and auxiliary pump drives.
Description
Curtiss-Wright and its legacy companies have designed and built steam turbines since 1906. Naval shipboard turbines are engineered to each client's requirements, with solid rotors, durable casings, advanced bucket-machining technology and digital control systems. A stationary steam path design matches pressure, temperature, steam flow and pressure drop across each stage to increase efficiency and reduce fuel consumption. Design, manufacturing and testing are certified to ISO 9002, ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 and are subject to military specifications.
Applications
- Main propulsion on U.S. Navy ships
- Ship service and emergency turbine generator sets
- Auxiliary steam turbine drivers for main feed pumps, auxiliary feed pumps, circulating pumps, fire pumps and standby oil pumps
- Commercial nuclear plants: the same Terry solid-wheel turbine technology is used in 200-250 single-stage turbines worldwide in safety-critical applications (RCIC, HPCI, auxiliary feedwater)
