Wärtsilä LNGPac fuel gas supply system

Wärtsilä LNGPac is a complete fuel gas supply system for LNG-fuelled ships. It comprises modules for LNG storage, bunkering, process equipment and control and monitoring, and can be delivered as a standard or tailor-made system, standalone or as part of a complete Wärtsilä propulsion package.

How it works

LNG is bunkered from the bunkering station to the LNG tank through an insulated pipe. Process equipment, mounted on the tank or placed remotely, ensures the correct gas temperature and pressure for the engines and other gas consumers. The system can be based on pressure build-up, a pump, or a combination of pump and compressor, and includes Wärtsilä cold recovery technology for additional energy savings.

• IMO type C and membrane tank solutions, including patented Type C pressure tank and Tank Connection Space designs
• Vacuum insulation (MLI or perlite) or polyurethane foam insulation
• Vertical, longitudinal or transversal tank installation
• Process equipment skid-mounted or built onto the tank as a fully enclosed unit
• Class-approved control and monitoring system with separate safety system; remote data collection and analysis

Experience from ~190 LNG projects from 25 cbm to 4600 cbm of LNG, including six LNG-fuelled OSVs for Harvey Gulf and the HFO-to-LNG conversion of the 25,000 dwt tanker Bit Viking. Integration with Wärtsilä engines, automation and gas valve units, plus IGF training and an LNGPac simulator, are available.
