Wärtsilä dual-fuel marine engines operating on LNG or conventional liquid fuels (LFO, HFO, liquid biofuel), with seamless fuel switching without loss of power or speed.
Description
Wärtsilä dual-fuel engines allow ships to operate on either LNG or conventional liquid marine fuels, including LFO, HFO and liquid biofuel. Switching between fuels is seamless, without loss of power or speed, so operators can comply with emission control area rules and choose fuel according to cost and availability. Running on LNG reduces CO2, NOx, SOx and particulate matter emissions.
The range includes engines such as the Wärtsilä 31DF, 34DF and 46TS-DF, used in tankers, ferries, cruise ships, icebreakers and offshore vessels, often in combination with hybrid propulsion. NextDF technology is available to reduce methane slip.
