Double Braided Polyester and Nylon Ropes
Double braided ropes in high tenacity polyester or nylon, in MIL-SPEC and standard versions, for towing springs, moorings, capstan hauling and lift ropes.
Description
Phillystran offers double braided ropes in two materials, both available with MIL-SPEC and standard size tables.
Double braided polyester uses high tenacity multifilament polyester yarns for wet and dry strength and durability against abrasion and fatigue. Polyester does not absorb water, so the rope neither hardens nor loses strength when wet; it is easy to splice, UV resistant thanks to a special yarn treatment, and remains flexible at -40 °F (-40 °C). Specific gravity 1.38, melting point 509 °F (265 °C), blue marker yarn.
Double braided nylon is made of multifilament nylon, with very good abrasion resistance, very good breaking strength and good recovery from stretch. Specific gravity 1.14, melting point 424 °F (218 °C), green marker yarn.
Applications
- Towing springs and buoy moorings
- Capstan hauling
- ROV and submersible lift ropes
- Supply boat mooring and tank mooring
