Phillystran PSFS

4-strand aramid fiber mooring rope co-engineered with the US Navy, with sequential break technology that reduces recoil; built to MIL-SPEC A-A-50435B.

Description

PSFS is a 4-strand aramid fiber rope (Kevlar / Twaron / Technora) co-engineered with the US Navy over years of design cooperation. It uses sequential break technology, which reduces the rope's recoil if it is overloaded to the point of break (see Cordage Institute standard CI 1502 for effective lengths); this safety feature is mandated on many US Navy vessels. The rope consists of four aramid strands around an independent synthetic core, each strand individually jacketed with alternating aramid and polyester yarns for abrasion resistance.

Key features

  • Sequential break (reduced recoil) technology
  • Tough, light, easy to handle and splice
  • Specific gravity 1.4; excellent UV, abrasion and chemical resistance
  • Built in accordance with MIL-SPEC A-A-50435B
  • Standard reel length 600 feet

Applications

  • Mooring lines, head lines and breast lines
  • Naval and other applications requiring tough, lightweight ropes
