Service for Box Coolers

Service for Box Coolers is Kelvion's refurbishment and maintenance programme for box coolers installed in ship sea chests. Over time the anti-corrosion coating can degrade, allowing marine growth such as seaweed, algae and bacteria to build up, restricting flow and reducing the thermal performance of the cooler and the equipment it serves. The service covers sea chest inspections, cleaning, recoating and repairs.

Service solutions

• Mechanical cleaning – tube-side cleaning at the factory or on site, housing-side cleaning at the factory; high-pressure or brush cleaning
• Chemical cleaning – acidic, alkaline or neutral cleaning agents circulated to dissolve deposits, scaling and corrosion products
• Thermal cleaning – thermal decomposition of organic material in an inert, oxygen-free atmosphere, allowing recoating to OEM specification
• Recoating – inspection, surface preparation and protective coatings against corrosion and chemical or biological attack
• Standard retubing – removal of old tubes, tube sheet preparation, new tubes expanded and sealed to OEM specification
• Spare parts, upgrades and replacements

• Assistance with assembly/disassembly, shipping and transport; installation supervision
• Spare parts and kits for Kelvion and other brands, including parts for older units and ICAF system spares
• Complete overhaul or workshop repair; extensive damage assessment
