About

Chevron Marine Lubricants traces its marine lubrication work back more than a century. In 1879, as Pacific Coast Oil Co., it supplied lubricants for early marine turbine engines. In 1914 Standard Oil Co. (Socal) launched marine engine oils, tested on its fleet of 28 vessels, and in 1962 Texaco supplied lubricants for the N.S. Savannah, the first nuclear-powered passenger ship.

In 1988 Chevron and Texaco formed Fuel & Marine Marketing (FAMM), a joint venture of their marine businesses. Chevron and Texaco merged in 2001, the company became Chevron in 2005, and three years later the lubricants arm of FAMM became Chevron Marine Lubricants. The Chevron, Texaco and Caltex brands are still used by region. The company is recognised as an IMPA ACT Preferred Supplier.
