ShipbuildingPLM is SSI's product lifecycle management platform, described as the only PLM platform built specifically for the business of shipbuilding. It is a vertical solution built on Aras Innovator, providing shipbuilding best practices, workflows, data relationships and a shipyard-specific data model (parts, assemblies, compartments, etc.).

Key features

• Organises engineering models, documents, requirements and project information in a single governed environment.
• Change management: revisions, approvals, configuration and hull effectivity using shipbuilding-specific workflows.
• Supports multi-CAD environments; can incorporate data from any CAD system, such as Foran, AVEVA or Cadmatic, independent of source file formats.
• Part-centric visual planning: render and annotate parts and assemblies in 3D within the PLM browser without additional software, with access to the full BOM, requirements, VFIs, diagrams and nest tapes.
• Controlled access for suppliers, partners and external users.
• Full cloud deployment on the customer's preferred cloud platform, or enterprise cloud managed jointly by Aras and SSI.
• Implementation within months via a pre-designed shipbuilding data model and an agile, incremental approach; SSI cites a PLM implementation at HII – Ingalls Shipbuilding in nine months.

It serves engineers, planners, production, owners/sustainment and program management, and supports naval programs including government cyber-security requirements.
