Floating Dock Mooring Design

Fixed mooring systems for floating drydocks in Tee or Quick-Disconnect configurations, designed for mooring point loads of 250 to 1,000 tons; over 40 systems designed.

Description

Heger Dry Dock designs fixed mooring systems that keep floating drydocks attached to the pier or dolphins in extreme weather while allowing the dock to trim and list during docking and undocking. In high seismic zones the rigid moorings are designed for earthquake loads. Over 40 mooring systems have been designed for floating dock facilities in the USA and overseas, for both new designs and retrofits.

Key features

  • Customized to pier geometry and capacity, maximum wind and current, design vessels, operability and seismic accelerations
  • Mooring points designed for loads generally from 250 tons up to 1,000 tons, verified with finite element analysis
  • 'Tee' type or 'Quick-Disconnect' type systems; Quick-Disconnect recommended for docks that must frequently leave their mooring, such as to reach a submergence berth or for transfer and launch operations
  • Two Point, Three Arm and Two Point, Gripper designs also listed
