Superbolt Multi-Jackbolt Tensioners

Multi-jackbolt nut- and bolt-style tensioners that split high preload into small jackbolt torques and are installed with hand tools.

Description

Superbolt multi-jackbolt tensioners (MJTs), introduced in 1984, divide the bolt load among multiple small jackbolts threaded through the nut body, turning high preload requirements into manageable torques. They thread onto new or existing bolts, studs or shafts as direct replacements for conventional nuts and bolts, and connections can be tightened with high accuracy using hand tools, without specialized skills or heavy tooling. They fit in restricted areas and can stay tight indefinitely.

Key features

  • GT standard nut: M16-M160, 400-1000 N/mm2
  • GTS super high-strength nut: M16-M100, 400-1200 N/mm2
  • MT standard, CY high-strength and SJ compact nuts
  • H650/H650T medium-temperature nuts up to 350 C
  • SB8 standard and SB12 high-strength bolt tensioners
  • Tested and approved by independent institutes and certification authorities

Applications

  • Critical bolted joints including naval gearboxes, pumps and propulsion systems
