Auramarine MGO Cooling and Chilling Units (ACU, AMC)
Auramarine cooler units (ACU) raise the viscosity of low-sulphur marine gas oil by cooling it to meet engine minimum viscosity; modular chiller units (AMC) supply chilled water where LT-water or seawater is insufficient.
Description
Auramarine cooling and chilling units keep the viscosity of marine gas oil (MGO) and other low-sulphur fuels at a level suitable for the engine. Low-viscosity distillates often fail to meet main engine minimum viscosity requirements; cooling the fuel increases its viscosity.
Cooler units (ACU)
- Plate or tube-type cooler, three-way water-control valve and all fittings and valves for installation and operation
- Temperature transmitter on the fuel outlet with mA signal to the engine control room
- Optional viscosity sensor (range 0-10 cSt)
- Cooling water from the ship's LT-water system, seawater system or a separate Auramarine modular chiller (AMC)
- Built-in mixing control valve based on fuel outlet temperature, controlling cooling water flow (LT-water models) or MGO flow (seawater model)
- Temperature controller factory set to a change rate of 2°C/min to prevent thermal shock; can be linked to the changeover system or run in local manual mode
Modular chiller units (AMC)
AMC units cool fresh water in the MGO cooling circuit when sufficiently cool LT-water or seawater is not available, or when fuel must be cooled below 40°C to meet the standard 2 cSt viscosity requirement or engine-specific values. Chilled water contains 20% monoethylene glycol.
- Standard unit: compressor, condenser, evaporator, filters, control panel, fittings and valves
- Built from modular units and customised; multiple modules can run independently and excess capacity can be shut off
- Pump modules provide chilled water flow in the closed circuit
- Requires a minimum of 150 litres of circulating chilled water; a separate auxiliary tank can be supplied
- Skid-mounted or separately located; chilling power range 60 kW to 300 kW
Technical data (AMC)
- Cooling capacity at 60 Hz: AMC-55 55 kW, AMC-75 75 kW, AMC-110 110 kW, AMC-150 150 kW
- Cooling capacity at 50 Hz: 45 / 65 / 90 / 130 kW respectively
- Supply voltages (60 Hz): 200-230/360-400/440-480/575 V
- Flanges: DN50 (AMC-55), DN65 (AMC-75)
- AMC-55 dimensions: 1600 mm H x 1300 mm W x 1370 mm L
