PRIMAR Remote / Digital Service
Official ENC Service (S-57/S-63)
Validated official S-57 ENCs from Hydrographic Offices, distributed encrypted in S-63 format through authorised distributors for ECDIS use under SOLAS.
Description
PRIMAR's core service delivers official Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) produced under the authority of government-authorised Hydrographic Offices. ENCs are vector charts whose primary purpose is use within an ECDIS to meet IMO and SOLAS chart carriage requirements; only ENCs meet SOLAS carriage requirements for charts on an ECDIS.
Key features
- S-57 ENCs distributed in encrypted S-63 format for data security, integrity and controlled access
- Secure intake from producers, structured quality control and validation aligned with international standards
- Datasets and updates delivered to authorised distributors worldwide via the PRIMAR Product Database and Product Catalogue
- One point of access to worldwide ENC coverage, without separate agreements with individual Hydrographic Offices
- Most PRIMAR nations include Temporary and Preliminary Notices to Mariners (T&P NMs) in their ENCs
- Existing S-57 ENC services continue to be supported during the transition to S-101
Applications
Primary navigation charts for SOLAS vessels fitted with ECDIS, supplied through chart agents and distributors.
