Samson Rope Equipment
Q-12 Defender
12-strand reduced-recoil line with DPX surface fiber that gives an indication of failure before full separation.
Description
Q-12 Defender is a 12-strand line based on Samson's reduced recoil technology. Under excessive tension, lower-elongating fibers break first and transfer load to specially designed control strands, indicating failure before the rope separates. DPX fiber on the surface gives a high coefficient of friction for working off bitts and capstans, while HMPE provides high strength and low elongation.
Key features
- Reduced recoil quantified per Cordage Institute Standard 1502
- Meets Canadian National Standard CGSB-40.20-2008
- Flexible, UV resistant, lightweight; does not hockle
Applications
- Mooring and line handling on bitts and capstans where snap-back risk must be reduced
