Geometrics Device / Instrument
G-882 Marine Magnetometer
Very high-resolution cesium vapor marine magnetometer for shallow or deep water surveys, sampling up to 20 Hz.
Description
The G-882 is a cesium vapor marine magnetometer described by Geometrics as the leading marine magnetometer system, with 1000+ systems sold worldwide. It is described as the only system that meets the standards required for UXO clearance in the North Sea.
Key features
- Self-oscillating split-beam cesium vapor sensor
- Samples up to 20 Hz for shallow or deep water surveys
- Interfaces with major side-scan manufacturers for tandem tow
- Operable by one person: 44 lb with 200 ft of cable
- Streamlined fiber-wound fiberglass housing reduces the chance of fouling
- Weight collars allow deep-tow use
- Logging via MagLog software; an export version is available
Applications
UXO investigations, mapping of existing infrastructure and other marine magnetic surveys.
