About
Hubbell traces its roots to Harvey Hubbell, who in the late 1800s invented products including the plug receptacle, the pull chain light socket and the electric water heater. In 1920 the electric water heater division of his company was spun off to become The Electric Heater Company, keeping the Hubbell trade name. In 2022 the holding company of Hubbell and its sister brands became The Nudyne Group; Hubbell is one of four water heating and storage companies in a family of six.
Hubbell water heaters are built in ISO 9001:2015 certified facilities in the U.S., with select products Buy American Act compliant. Certifications cited include ABS Type Approval, ASME, AWS-certified welders, CRN, Energy Star, ETL, NR-13 and UL listing. Hubbell is a member of ASHRAE and ASPE, and states it is the vendor of tankless water heaters for all 77 U.S. Coast Guard Fast Response Cutters.
