About

Founder Bill Munson welded and repaired aluminum Swift Boats for the US Navy in Vietnam, then designed and built aluminum boats for Alaska fishermen. He founded Munson Manufacturing, Inc in 1980 and built the first Munson "V" hull landing craft in 1984. After selling that company in 1986, he founded the William E. Munson Company in 1994 and introduced a standardized line of welded aluminum landing craft; the patented PACKCAT catamaran landing craft followed after 2000.

In 2004 Munson moved into its purpose-built facility with overhead bridge cranes, a CNC router and a central helium-argon gas supply. Welding procedures are certified to AWS D1.2, boats are designed in AutoCAD, Rhino, AutoShip, Solidworks and GHS, wired by ABYC certified electricians, and built to USCG Subchapter-T, Transport Canada and EU Recreational Craft Directive requirements.
