About

The MaK engineering heritage presented on the site goes back to an ordnance depot established in 1866. Diesel engine production for ships and locomotives began in 1922, and series production of four-stroke diesel engines started in 1930. The MaK marine engine brand was established with early deliveries such as the M 24 and M 36.

The business was restructured at its Kiel-Friedrichsort site in 1990-1993 to focus exclusively on engine construction. Today the MaK web presence is part of the Caterpillar Marine family of brands.
