Marcon International was founded in 1981 by Bob Beegle as an international shipbrokerage specializing in the offshore petroleum, towing and marine construction industries. Ownership and management were transferred to senior employees before his retirement in 2020.
The firm completed its first sale in 1983 and its first tug sale in 1985. Its internal information system tracks over 17,000 vessels and barges, with archives on more than 26,000 others. Marcon states that it is not a certified appraiser or surveyor; its valuation reports are opinions based on its expertise as vessel brokers.
