About
The company traces its origins to 1930, when founder Samuel Carbis designed the first aluminum fire ladder and started the Aluminum Ladder Company (Alco-Lite brand). It moved to Florence, South Carolina in 1959, became Carbis, Inc. in the early 1980s as it shifted to custom fall-protection equipment, and opened a second manufacturing facility in Darlington, South Carolina in 1996.
The business was integrated into Sam Carbis Solutions Group in 2013 and in 2019 acquired its long-time international distributor Loadtec to form Carbis Loadtec. It is a fourth-generation family-owned company with a 45+ employee engineering department, counts most Fortune 1000 manufacturing companies among its customers and is a VPPPA member.
