Blue Guard Innovations, LLC is located in Broomfield, Colorado, with manufacturing operations in San Diego, California. The company entered the marine industry with a patented oil and fuel detection sensor that it describes as unique in the market for its reliability of detection, small size and affordability, addressing the need to prevent oil and fuel discharge from vessel bilges.

Combining experience from the maritime community with BGI technology, it went on to produce the Smart Skipper sensor systems to protect vessels at sea and at the dock while unattended. Monitoring covers power systems, fire and smoke detection, the commercial Roving Watchman system, theft protection with geofencing and AIS tracking, tender towing, bilge monitoring and remote on/off control for pumps, lights and air conditioning.
