Louisiana Cat

Louisiana Cat traces its roots to Louisiana Tractor and Equipment Company, founded as a levee contractor in 1928 in Tallulah, Louisiana, which became the first Caterpillar dealer in the state by 1933. Operating later as Louisiana Machinery Co., it became the statewide Cat dealer in 1991 and moved its corporate headquarters to Reserve, outside New Orleans, to grow its marine and petroleum engine and generator business.

Nearly half of its business comes from Power Systems sales, parts and service, so the company dropped "Machinery" from its name in 2011. Its Power Systems headquarters in the Port of Iberia is an ISO 9001 DNV certified design, fabrication and custom packaging operation. The rental fleet is described as one of the largest in North America.
